Our newly renovated, all-season Waitati Whare Wānanga is perfect for a variety of kaupapa. Established in 1988, this location features a wharenui, wharekai, and wharemoe. With ample parking, modern facilities, and marae-style accommodation, the whare is equipped to host both small and large groups for a variety of events.

The whare wānanga is available for booking in day-hire or overnight stays, with rates structured for both community and commercial use:

Community / Non-Profit Use
For registered groups, charities, community organisations, and private events such as children's birthdays.

Day-hire — $150 (+ GST)

Overnight Stay — $250 (+ GST)

Business / For-Profit Use
For commercial activity, private business use, or revenue-generating events:

Day-hire — $250 (+ GST)

Overnight Stay — $350 (+ GST)
Our whare wānanga is equipped to comfortably host a range of mid-sized gatherings, with capacity for up to 50 people depending on layout, and 40 overnight guests.

The whare accommodates up to 50 people and 40 overnight quests, with flexible layout options to suit different group needs.

Small, low-key celebrations

To ensure the space remains suitable for all visitors and the surrounding community, it is not designed for large-scale, late-night, or alcohol-related events.
Bookings are available in Day-Hire or Overnight Stay time slots and are subject to availability.

To make a booking:

Select your arrival date and time using the calendar above.

Complete the booking form, including your departure date and time.

Use the message box to outline your booking details.

Submit your request.

You will receive an automated acknowledgement once submitted. All requests are reviewed before a confirmation email is sent. Bookings are only confirmed once this confirmation has been received.
Multi-day bookings require availability across all selected dates. Each day must be available on the calendar for the booking to proceed. If a time is not visible, the space is already booked.

When submitting a multi-day request, include the following in the message box:

All dates required

Arrival date and time

Final departure date and time

Any additional details relevant to your booking
The whare includes a range of features to support accessible use.

Entrance to the building is accessed via ramp, with a wide double-door entry into the wharemoe. Step-free access is also available through the single-door on the deck area.

The bathroom provides sufficient space for manoeuvring, with circulation room and clearance beneath the basin to support ease of use.

The space is designed to accommodate a range of access needs, though it may not meet all requirements (for example, grab rails are not installed).
